Microsoft Surface Studio PC announced

Microsoft’s Surface

Microsoft’s Surface family has formally expanded to include the desktop. The company simply declared the Surface Studio at today’s event in new york town. It’ll be out there “in limited quantities” this vacation for $2,999, $3,499, or $4,199, depending on hardware choices. Preorders begin these days, and also the Studio will be showcased in Microsoft retail stores before its release. “We entirely believe that Surface changes the approach you produce, the path you create, the way you learn,” said Panos Panay, UN agency leads Microsoft’s devices team. “The product I am planning to show you is all of that — however, it’s one step more. It’s going to appear familiar. However, it’s going to feel completely different.”

He then disclosed the Studio, with an all-in-one form factor, touted as having the “world’s thinnest LCD monitor ever built” at twelve.5mm. That touchscreen display is contained in a solid aluminum enclosure and measures twenty-eight inches across. The show outputs 13.5 million pixels, per Panay, that is 63 % more than a 4K tv. “It’s got the most effective screen in its category,” Panay said.
The Studio supports expanded color’s output – important for photographers, videographers, and designers. Microsoft refers to this as “TrueColor.” The display features a 3:2 ratio with 192 pixels per inch. It’s battery-powered by Intel’s sixth generation processors and, graphics-wise, has a Nvidia GTX 980M GPU with the premium model, with a 965M within the lower-priced configurations. The Studio’s hinge permits for the display to be adjusted to a 20-degree orientation that is convenient for drawing or marking up Word documents. “These chrome arms were meant to fully fade into the background,” said Panay.
